Thank you

is powerful

It’s thanksgiving weekend here, in Canada.

The energy of thankfulness and gratitude emit high, positive vibes.

It’s the small acts of kindness that make this world beautiful.

In a busy middle school, with a thousand questions, interruptions and decisions a day, it’s challenging to reflect on the best parts. We often focus on what didn’t go well, or the feeling of our energy draining, at the end of a long day. The pace is fast.

It’s important to reflect on what went well and what we’re grateful for. It brings the energy up – powerful, positive energy.

Upon reflecting –

I’m thankful to the student who left a bright pink, hand written sticky note on my door that read, “Thank you so much Ms. Berry for helping me with my class. It helped so much. I really appreciate it. Sincerely, _______”

And the time when I sneezed and a student, with special needs, left the room coming back with a tissue in hand. He looked at me with compassion. His non-verbal gesture was pure kindness and love. No words were needed.

I’m thankful for the student who saw me carrying in a big awkward box of various items, for the dance room, and opened the front door for me.

I’m also thankful for another student who, just after the front door was opened, asked if I needed help carrying the box.

I’m thankful for our district’s rainbow picnic, organized by a small, committed team. I took a group of 18 students who were so happy, energized, included and grateful to be there.

There are so many thank you’s. These are just a few that come to mind.

Your turn!

What are you thankful for, over the last week, or day? It’s such a powerful, energy boosting exercise.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving to everyone, across the world.

in wild blossom spirit,

gillian
